However, if you aren't quite ready to invest in your passion yet, there are some good options that will let you learn how to DJ without spending any money at all!

TOP free DJ software

Mixxx is free software that you can use to mix your songs like a pro. Ideal for beginners and also pros, Mixxx has many features such as:

  • DJ Audio Mixing Interface
  • Multi-Channel Sound Card Support
  • Beat Detection (Auto Beat Match)
  • Built-in MIDI Controller Support
  • MIDI Clock Output

This free software is open source (GPL) and is designed for mixing digital music. It can play many formats, like MP3, AAC/M4A, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, WMA, and WAVE.

It has a very intuitive interface that you will easily get used to in no time at all. You can also use your computer keyboard or MIDI controller to control Mixxx which makes learning how to DJ so much easier.

Virtual DJ Pro Infinity 8-Pin

This software enables you to mix sound files with up to 7 programmable virtual decks simultaneously without any limitation on the number of audio channels or type of file format you are using! What does this mean for you? It means that you can mix songs on a professional level without spending a dime.

It comes with a large number of audio effects including Delay, Echo, Flanger, Phaser, and Reverb which you can use to create new sound experiences. You also have the possibility to add vinyl crackle on top of your tracks if you want.

To top it off, there is a wide range of key-lock effects available such as Beat Looper, Key Mixer, and Vocoder so that you can fuse songs together effortlessly while guaranteeing perfect audio quality at all times!

Virtual DJ Free 7-Pin

This free software by Atomix Productions is very similar to Virtual DJ pro Infinity 8-pin in that you can mix digital music files with up to 7 decks. However, it also has several limitations compared to its paid version such as only being able to support mp3, m4a, and wav file formats.

It has all of the features that you would expect from professional DJ software including automatic beat detection which allows the software to set the BPMs for your tracks automatically. It also contains an equalizer, real-time effect control knob, sampler, and 10 integrated FX per channel!

If you are just starting out in the world of DJing then this is definitely the right choice for you because it's free yet still powerful enough to give you everything that you need to practice mixing songs like a pro.

However, one of the biggest disadvantages is that you can't use it to mix songs on audio CDs.

Mixxx for Android & iOS

This free program enables you to create your own mixes using your android or iOS device (phone, tablet, etc). You also have the possibility to record your mixes and share them with everyone in an instant!

However, when it comes to Mixxx for Android vs Mixxx for iOS there are certain limitations that you need to keep in mind about this app. For example, the free version of Mixxx for Android has all of the features that you will ever need but when it comes to Mixxx for iOS then only its basic features are available in the free version compared with its paid counterpart.

Cross DJ Free

This free DJ software is also available on several platforms such as Mixxx, Virtual DJ and Traktor. It enables you to mix digital music files with up to 4 decks at the same time.

One of its most distinctive features is that there are no limitations when it comes down to the number of songs you can mix together in one performance. You also have access to 8 different virtual decks which is very generous!

When it comes down to advanced features then Cross DJ has automatic beat detection as well as a wide range of sound effects including Equalizer, Echo, Flanger, Phase, and Reverb which you can use during your performances.

In fact, you even have a sampler at your disposal so that you can create loops and phrases in real-time if you choose to do so. However, one of its major disadvantages is that it doesn't support audio files on CDs or types of vinyl which might turn out to be a dealbreaker for some people.

Zulu DJ Software

Although this free software is not as popular as some of the other DJ tools on this list it still packs a punch when it comes to mixing digital music files with up to 4 decks.

One of its most impressive features is that you can use both your mouse and keyboard simultaneously during your performances which enables you to mix like a pro even if you don't play an instrument such as piano or guitar. Its automatic beat detection algorithm also ensures that all of the tracks will be perfectly synchronized at all times!

However, one of its downsides is that there are currently only 37 free sound effects available for mixing purposes.

UltraMixer Free

This free DJ software doesn't offer the same number of features as some of the other options on this list but it is still a great choice if you are looking for something that will enable you to mix digital music files with up to 4 decks. It has automatic beat detection which is always great when it comes down to mixing tracks successfully!

It also has real-time effect control which enables you full creativity while using your favorite sound effects at all times. However, one of its downsides is that although it supports mp3, wav, and m4a audio file formats there are certain limitations in terms of simultaneous file formats so if you need to use different types of audio files together on the same track then this might not be the right free DJ software for you.

Garage Band

Although this is not a traditional DJ software many people use it as such and one of its most powerful features is that it can be used to mix music live.

One of the best things about Garage Band is that it allows you to create your own loops so there are no limitations when it comes down to creativity. It also has a wide range of built-in sound effects which enables you to customize your mixes according to your preferences!

However, despite its versatility Garage band doesn't have any automated beat detection or synchronization features so if those are important for you then this might not be the right choice for mixing songs.

Which one has more features?

In order to choose the best free DJ software for you, it is important that you mention what your primary focus is. If you are looking for a simple tool without too many options then Mixxx will be a great choice, but if you want to have full control over the audio files and create loops using your own virtual instruments then Garage Band might be a better option!
