Wisconsin

How much can people take before they break?
Sometimes they fall on you, these things you try to make
And inside of those moments you push
But in the end sometimes you don't think that you did much

But hey Wisconsin, you captured my heart
You gave me hope the way you fought
You sparked something and you opened a door
When you took their moment and made it yours

I watched a couple thousand people build a home here
In the shadow of the greed of the Governor
And like a water that rose, the ideas flowed
And they made their way to the square
And they brought 100,000 people there

chorus

It was so important what you did
You gave us all something that we needed
And looking from here you know it might takes years
For us to realize the importance of it
How it empowered its participants
How it danced outside of politics
How it altered public counciossness
How it shaped a future movement
How it broke a spell of silence
How it gave us all some guidance

chorus

Every revolution has a context
And social change is a process
I saw the sun rise to melt the snow
To clear the land for new life to grow
And it's spring now
It's spring now
