Wrote this one New Year's eve and day, 2009/2010. Needed to sum up the decade and this sort of capped the album.
We got scratched by the cat so they shot the dog
Lit the whole world up with shock & awe
Pulled a country by the reigns of fear
On a pre-planned route through the great war-fog
The grand display of an arrogant nation
At the cost of my generation
Stretched thin in the global gamble
Manifesting destinations
Now the mentally broken soldier's home
With a hundred story that'll never be told
Who's actions bred another generation
That's waiting in line to explode
All the dust that spread when your missiles fired
Is blowing back across your empire
History's great boomerang, doubling back with a bang
And it's too late now to call a cease-fire
We're addicted to things other people own
And as a result we're not safe at home
Now armed to the teeth, feigning disbelief
We're barricading ourselves inside the green zone
They say the world changed you better learn to love it
But they never seemed to learn the lessons from it
So they shoot before they pray, starting tomorrow's wars today
Trying to find an ever-reproducing culprit
